Privacy Policy
Aftermark runs on your computer. We operate no server that it connects to, and we never receive your journal.
The short version
- There is no account to create.
- Your trades, notes and exports are files on your own disk. We never receive them.
- There is no telemetry, no usage tracking, no crash reporting and no automatic update check.
- The dashboard loads no third-party scripts, fonts, analytics or tracking pixels. Every asset it uses is local.
- With no API keys configured, no brokerage account connected, and the AI-assistant connector left off, Aftermark opens no outbound network connection at all. Your broker is reached only if you connect one. Your AI assistant's provider receives journal data only if you turn the connector on and ask that assistant a question.
This website
This site is a set of static pages. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics, and loads nothing from a third party. If you email us, we have your email address because you sent it to us.
What leaves your machine, and only if you ask it to
Every outbound connection Aftermark can make requires you to supply a credential or run a script yourself. Here is the complete list.

All five go directly from your computer to that company, under your own account with them, governed by their terms. None of it passes through us, because there is no "us" in the path — we run no server for Aftermark.
One thing worth being precise about: the earnings helper sends the ticker symbols you hold. Symbols you hold are information about your positions. It is optional and manual, but we would rather name it than let you discover it.
Broker account data
If you connect a brokerage account, Aftermark reads your positions, orders, fills and balances so it can build your journal. Access is read-only: Aftermark cannot place, change or cancel orders.
Everything happens on your own computer. Aftermark talks to your broker directly from your device. Sloth Trading LLC runs no server that receives your broker data, and Aftermark sends us no usage analytics or telemetry. We never see, sell or share your broker data, and we don't use it for advertising.
To connect, your broker gives Aftermark an access token, which is saved in a file on your computer. Today that file is not encrypted, so anyone with access to your computer account could read it. Protect your device with a password and disk encryption. Some brokers' tokens expire on their own, some after about a week.
To disconnect, revoke Aftermark's access in your broker's account settings and delete the token file. To delete your data, delete Aftermark's data folder. Aftermark's data folder is the data folder beside the app, or the folder named by AFTERMARK_DATA_DIR. Tokens Aftermark saves are in <Aftermark data folder>\tokens. AI-assistant connector
Aftermark includes an optional connector that lets an AI assistant you choose read your journal. It's off unless you turn it on. It runs on your computer and makes no network connections of its own. It can read your journal data and can add new notes, but it cannot edit or delete existing entries and cannot place trades.
When you ask your AI assistant a question, the journal data it reads is sent to that assistant's provider under the provider's own privacy terms, not ours. Turn the connector off if you don't want journal data shared with your AI provider.
Tax figures
Any wash-sale or other tax figures in Aftermark are estimates for your own records, not tax advice. Reconcile them against your broker's 1099-B and consult a tax professional.
Licence verification
When licence verification is enabled (for a trial or a subscription), the only thing transmitted is your licence key, to our licensing provider, at most once a day. No trade data, no positions, no broker credentials, no usage statistics and no machine fingerprint are sent with it.
When a sale opens
Aftermark is pre-launch. Nothing is for sale on this site today, so there is no purchase, order, or receipt. When a sale opens, the companies named below are the ones this policy already lists:
- Paddle is our payment processor and merchant of record. They handle the transaction and hold your name, email, billing address and payment details under their own privacy policy. We do not receive or store your card details at any point.
- Keygen stores the licence issued to you, identified by your email address and the subscription or trial it belongs to.
- Our email provider delivers your licence key to you.
We keep a record of licences issued and whether they were delivered, so we can help you if a key goes missing. That record contains your email address and your licence key. It does not contain anything about your trading.
Your choices
Because there is no account and no server, there is very little for us to delete — your journal is already entirely in your hands, and deleting the folder deletes it. For the licence record described above, email us and we will tell you what we hold and remove what we are not required to keep.
Children
Aftermark is not directed at anyone under 18 and we do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will appear on this page. The version that shipped with your copy of the software describes that copy.
